After years of marketing my books, I’ve become a promoting pro. I’ve learned it isn’t enough to be a masterful storyteller; you have to be a competent marketer or have a good marketing team behind you. Luckily, in this digital era, it’s not as challenging to become a promoting pro as it was in the past. As you can see below, I have an event at the world’s most famous bookstore, Barnes & Noble. This has been a goal of mine since becoming a self-published author, and it’s finally happening. Let me explain to you how I’ve upped my promotional game over the years.
Designed This Poster Myself
I’ve gotten better at reaching out to businesses and organizations to get my book and name out there. In fact, once I secured my book event at Barnes & Noble, I took the initiative to design this poster on Canva. That’s something only a promoting pro would do. Afterward, I emailed Special Olympics, Favarrh, and Barnes & Noble themselves so they could print and hang the posters up in their businesses. Then, I brought physical posters to local businesses I go to regularly and asked to display them. Being a promoting pro isn’t glamorous, but it’s necessary to get your name out there. Hopefully, my hard work pays off, and many people come to my Barnes & Noble signing next Saturday.
