Reviews can give your product, business, or act a pulse. They can also take the wind right out of your sales. Humans are creatures who like to know what they’re getting into. When they’re going on vacations, they research for the top rated hotels, restaurants, and attractions. No one wants to eat at an establishment with only two stars. Reviews are indicators of how good an item or service is. So, positive reviews of your book will catch eyes of interested readers. Not to mention they boost your novel in the algorithm, so they’re more likely to pop up on someone’s feed when visiting Amazon.com or another store website.
Reviews make or break your stories!
An author that I met through the podcast I co-host read my book early gave me one of the most elegant and uplifting reviews I’ve ever seen. In exchanged I returned the favor by reviewing one of her children’s books for neurodivergent children. I hope my book gets several more positive reviews from old friends, family, acquaintances, and even complete strangers. Even if my book were the best, it would still get a negative review because someone thinks it’s terrible or maybe it wasn’t their cup of tea. Try not to take it personally because I heard a quote, “You could be the sweetest peach, but they’re still people that don’t like peaches.” So, even though your book’s reach might depend on other people’s perception, just take the support or constructive criticism and apply it to make the next book you write even better than the previous.
