Plays

Plays, musicals, theater. It’s a form of entertainment and performance art, that’s been around for centuries. I realize they’re not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s okay, but I’ve always had a soft spot and appreciation for plays. Which I’m sure is surprising to anyone reading this blog. I commend these people as I’m a lot things in the arts, but I wouldn’t consider myself a singer or actor. Not yet at least. So, yesterday I went to New York City and saw a marvelous play with a group of neurodivergent young adults called the Social Chase. A group that provides a lot of opportunities and fun times for us non-neurotypical folk. Anyway, let me tell you all about it.

Sit Down and ENjoy The Show!

When The Curtains Opens, The Magic Starts

The play I saw was called ‘How To Dance in Ohio’. It’s one of those plays, that can alter one’s perspective of an entire group of individuals in only a couple hours. It follows seven adults on the autism spectrum getting ready to go to a big dance, but this proves to be a challenge as it requires them to socially interact and ask for a date. I won’t spoil the musical any further, watch their show if you’d like to learn more. This performance resinated with me deeply and I strongly encourage Broadway to give ‘How To Dance In Ohio’ a shot to perform on the big stage. The actors (who are all on the spectrum) knocked it out of the park. I hope I gave you some insights on plays and you give them a chance in the future.
