Being on the stage was a big childhood fear of mine. It made public speaking look like a playground in my opinion. It may have stemmed from the fact I never enjoyed being the center of attention or the fact that unlike Tom Brady I have zero grace under pressure. I know I’d stutter, forget my lines, or full on panic if I were on the stage. Art is my bread and butter, drawing, creative writing, pottery. I could do it all, besides perform in front of the masses However, near the end of Highschool I started to overcome this phobia.
The Spotlight is On so Shine Bright!
In my Junior year of Highschool, I went on the stage for the first time. On a whim, I made a speech for United Sports. I describe the bond we have and the belonging I felt. My voice cracked, but in the end I earned a thunderous applause. I’m mentioning this because I will be on the stage again for the first time in years. I will be participating in Favaarh Players where we are doing a play on Disney’s The Lion King. I will play as part of the ensemble. It may be small I will play my part with my best effort. So, I hope I inspired you to overcome stage fright and dance your heart out.
