Mum Festival

This weekend I had the pleasure of being a vendor for the first time in my hometown of Bristol’s annual Mum Festival. It was a beautiful weekend, weather wise as it was in the high seventies and sunny on both Saturday and Sunday. Over the course of two days, I sold a total of twenty three copies of my books at the Mum Festival. Not bad considering this event is about fun and parades and the presence of dozens of other vendors as well. What made it all worthwhile was engaging with the community and seeing many old familiar faces at the fair. It always touches my to see the many smiling faces on a bright day.

I sold twenty three books, but many more people took my bookmark and scanned my website’s QR code so they could either take a deeper dive later onto my book or maybe even purchase it on online. My favorite part about being a vendor at the Mum Festival is the comradery other vendors displayed, my back was frying as it was in direct sunlight and my tent didn’t have those sheets on the side or back to protect me. So my booth neighbor let me borrow hers and that made the difference between cooking and being cooked. The Mum Festival taught me that people who support their local author. Thank you Bristol!
