CTYLF

Last week I was a co-counselor at CTYLF, which stands for the Connecticut Youth Leadership Forum. At CTYLF, teenagers and young adults with disabilities learn to unlock their leadership potential. I have history with this project as I was a delegate back in 2016 with CTYLF. It was a terrifying, but illuminating experience to stay up at UCONN campus in Storrs. I had never away from home without my parents before, so it was my first time learning a little independence. Let me tell you what we do up in CTYLF.

Leaders Step Up When NEeded

Guiding The Next Generation Of Leaders

At CTYLF we listen to speakers about their experiences at CTYLF and how their disabilities affected them. Often, they would list out resources and accommodations that helped them. It’s quite the sight to witness the delegates come out of their shells and learn to be the future leaders in our community. Speaking of which, we do community service, host a talent show where delegates and counselors an perform, have a dance party, and a lunch in with parents on the final day. I’m thrilled to have been a delegate and work my second year as a co-counselor for CTYLF. I am looking forward to returning next year.
