I received my author’s copy of the book im publishing earlier this week. The book is certainly beautiful to look at. This has been a long time coming. The moment I clicked ‘enable distribution’ on my book was one of the most thrilling moments of my life. I ordered quite a few copies of books, but I’ve been waiting patiently for my personal author’s copy. As I was learning the self-publishing process, I followed a lot of authors on YouTube. While watching their videos, I noticed a copy of their books on the shelf right behind them. It reminded me of a trophy inside its case.
The author's copy is a display trophy
When I opened the package up, the first thing I did was admire the cover of the author’s copy. It was like all of my hard work and dedication from the past four years manifested itself into a physical form. I placed it with all my sport trophies I won as a kid. One day I’ll read it, but right now I’m fatigued from marketing, editing, and writing it. So, now I have no desire to read it. Anyway, my author copy is a paperback, but a hardback version should arrive any day now. The author’s copy is special since you are the first person to get your hands on your book in physical form. It’s truly rewarding to see the results of your labor.
